Researcher, Farmer, Writer.

I’m a PhD candidate in Social Justice Education at OISE, University of Toronto, based across Toronto and Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland). I’m trained in participatory and community based research and have worked across multiple research labs (community & academic) and community partnered projects.

My personal research often thinks with plants across the cities and rural places where I work, attending to relationships with land, water, seeds, and place.

Alongside my academic work, I have worked in food sovereignty for several years across Indigenous and Filipino education spaces. I’m trained in small-scale vegetable farm management and have managed gardens and farms focused on growing food from seed to harvest, seed keeping, and community education. I now maintain my farming practice through Ate Kay’s Farm (pronounced ahh-tey), where I grow, forage, and work with plants that support grief, sleep, and anxiety.
